A full-scale ski area
The ski area of Châtel, offers to the unconditional skiers as well as to the contemplative skiers a whole range of possibilities for a stay adapted to each one.
The Châtel ski area covers two massifs: Super-Châtel / Barbossine and Linga / Pré la Joux / Plaine Dranse. These two sectors are linked by the Portes du Soleil and Gabelou chairlifts. It has 44 skiruns and 41 lifts. The Châtel ski area is directly linked to Avoriaz and La Chapelle d'Abondance on the French side and to Torgon and Morgins on the Swiss side.
Ski touring
In Châtel you will find 5 ski touring itineraries with varied profiles and marked out for all levels. Whichever itinerary you choose, you will discover Châtel from a different angle and enjoy breathtaking panoramas.
Snowshoe walks
There are many snowshoe trails in Châtel that you can follow independently. These different itineraries, some of which straddle the border between France and Switzerland, have been mapped out to meet the expectations of as many people as possible: from a one-hour stroll to a 4 or 5-hour hike. Snowshoeing is an ideal leisure activity for spending quality time with family and friends, with all the pleasures that it offers.
Each week a programme of accompanied outings is also offered by qualified guides.
Dog sledding
Take advantage of your holidays in Châtel to discover the world of mushing either by taking a dogsled ride or, for the more athletic, a evening hike harnessed to a Siberian Husky to enjoy a fondue in a mountain chalet!

The new snow sports
Between the Yooner, to glide 20 cm off the ground, the inflatable Airboard sled that you operate lying down, the Snakegliss articulated sliding train, or the scooter-ski and the snooc, come and discover new ways to have fun while sliding down the mountains.
The Aquatic Centre
Between sport, relaxation and well-being, immerse yourself in the relaxing atmosphere of Forme d'O. Located in the centre of the village, the aquatic centre invites you to discover its different areas.
The aquatic area with a sports pool, a leisure pool reserved for fun activities and children and a heated outdoor pool that allows you to swim in the open air in an extraordinary snowy atmosphere at the foot of the pistes. In the wellness area you will find a pool with bubble benches, 4 saunas (one of which is outdoor at about 70°C), 2 traditional hammams, massaging and sensory showers, treatments and massages for the face and body and also a gym.
Iceskating
Come skate with your family or with friends, while enjoying music, at the Châtel ice rink, ideally located in the heart of the village.
Entertainment and events
The winter season is also characterised by major events such as the Christmas festivities, Charivari ( Farmer's Festival), Rock the Pistes (concerts on the skislopes), alpine ski and mogul ski races..... There is something for everyone!

Summer in Châtel is also a time for traditional events such as La Saint Laurent (the village festival) or La Belle Dimanche ( the Mountain Pastures festival), a week dedicated to children with the Châtel Retourne en Enfance festival and, of course, sports competitions, whether cycling or mountain biking.
