Work-related costs scheme

Through the work-related costs scheme (WKR), you can provide tax-free allowances to your employees as an employer. These can include items that also benefit your employees in their private lives.

As long as the total amount remains within the free space, you can provide tax-free allowances. The free space is calculated based on the total payroll of all your employees combined.

If the amount of these allowances exceeds this limit, you will have to pay 80% tax on the excess amount.

Starting in 2024, the free space in the WKR will be 1.92% for payrolls up to €400,000 and 1.18% for payroll above €400,000. (Source: belastingdienst.nl) For more information on this topic, consult your accountant or visit the website of the Dutch Tax Authorities.
